As evening falls, the historic city of Birgu (Vittoriosa) comes alive with light.

Captured from the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, this view looks across the Grand Harbour towards one of Malta's oldest and most important cities. The illuminated fortifications, waterfront buildings, and church domes reflect centuries of maritime and military history.

Birgu served as the home of the Knights of St John following their arrival in Malta in 1530 and played a pivotal role during the Great Siege of 1565. Today, its historic skyline remains one of the most recognisable sights in the harbour, particularly after dark when the city lights reflect across the water.
