Moorish Fountain

Moorish Fountain

The Moorish Fountain (Fonte Mourisca) in Sintra, Portugal, is a beautifully ornate Neo-Moorish structure built in 1922 by sculptor José da Fonseca.

Located along the scenic Volta do Duche, it features intricate horseshoe arches, Mudejar-style tilework (azulejos), and elegant stone columns.

Once a public water source, it now stands as a decorative and photogenic landmark, celebrating Sintra’s rich blend of Moorish and Romantic architecture.

A hidden gem just a short walk from the town centre, it’s a favourite stop for travellers exploring Sintra’s cultural charm.
