Standing proudly just offshore at Harwich,Ā Dovercourt LighthouseĀ is one of Essex's most recognisable coastal landmarks.
Ā Built in 1863, it is one of only two surviving screw-pile lighthouses in the United Kingdom, making it an important piece of Britain's maritime heritage.
Originally constructed to help guide ships safely through the busy approaches to Harwich Harbour, the lighthouse has stood watch over the coastline for more than 160 years. Although no longer in active service, it remains an iconic landmark and a favourite destination for walkers, history enthusiasts, and photographers alike.
