⛪ Beneath the Mosta Dome 🇲🇹
Looking up inside the Rotunda of Mosta, it's easy to understand why this church is one of Malta's most celebrated architectural landmarks.
The magnificent coffered dome is decorated with an intricate geometric pattern of gold, blue, and cream, drawing the eye upwards to the central oculus. Flooded with natural light from the surrounding windows, the vast interior creates a remarkable sense of space and symmetry.
Inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, the dome is one of the largest unsupported domes in the world and remains one of the finest examples of 19th-century church architecture in Malta. Every detail, from the decorative mouldings to the carefully balanced proportions, reflects the ambition and craftsmanship behind this extraordinary building.
